Dee Ann Story was a force in Texas Archaeology. Receiving her BA and MA from the University of Texas at Austin (1953, 1956), and her PhD from the University of California at Los Angeles (1963), her accomplishments include, but are not limited to:

Texas Archeological Salvage Project (the state’s first
professional female archaeologist)
Director of the Texas Archeological Research Laboratory
Professor at the University of Texas at Austin

Her work and life were an inspiration to all.
In 1989, Dr. Story spoke to the Southern Texas Archaeological Association on “The Future of Texas Archaeology” and the importance of conserving Texas’ past (La Tierra 1989, Vol. 16-3).
