STAA Outreach!
STAA was represented at the Rio Grande Electric Co-op's annual meeting in Ft. Stockton in October 2003.  The Rio Grande electric Co-op services land owners across west Texas, from the Panhandle to the Big Bend.  The meeting was attended by about 300 landowners from across west and south Texas.

The booth was manned by Andy Cloud, archaeologist, from the Center for Big Bend Studies in Alpine, Texas; and STAA members, Roy Smyers and Cindy Smyers of Odessa.

People brought their artifacts for identification, and we met a lot of people and passed out STAA applications and informational brochures.  Everyone had a lot of fun. We made a lot of good contacts, and the Rio Grande Electric Co-op has invited STAA back for next year's meeting in Bracketville, TX.

Archaeologist, Andy Cloud is with the Center for Big Bend Studies at Sul Ross University in Alpine, TX.  Andy donated his time to help us with our booth.

Here, Andy is discussing archaeology with one of the young people who visited our booth.

Andy often helps us with our booths and projects in this area of western Texas.  Many thanks Andy!
